What to expect
When I visit Journey, where should I enter the building?
Most people enter the Journey center through the front glass door under the canopy, although you can also come in the metal door on the left into our CBR (Cool Back Room). The CBR is where the breakfast snacks, coffee and juice are on Sunday mornings.
What time do things start on Sunday?
Our Sunday morning experience – Journey Worship – begins at 10:00 a.m. We have breakfast snacks, coffee and juice available in the back room, and our worship service begins sometime around 10:15. We consider the visiting time before worship important for us all as there are usually guests there every week! The worship service usually lasts until 11:30 or 11:45, depending on who’s preaching/teaching that day and what special elements are involved in the service.
What should I wear when I visit?
Journey Worship is very casual, although some choose to “dress up” a bit. However, most folks wear jeans, shorts, and sometimes you’ll even see flip flops. We encourage you to come as you are and enjoy the warm atmosphere as we seek God together.
What should I bring when I visit?
Most importantly, bring yourself and your family or friends! Since we teach from the Bible each week, we encourage you to bring one with you. If you don’t have one, we have extras available at the worship center.
What is the style of worship at Journey?
Perhaps the best way to describe a worship service at Journey is “focused.” While we have a dynamic praise band and gifted biblical teachers, our worship services are designed to honor Christ and to enable people to encounter Him. Upbeat, contemporary music is often interspersed with intimate praise. Often, you’ll hear from one of our members as they share what God is doing in their own life. Our overall goal in worship is to lead people to love God and through loving Him, love others as well.
Is there a nursery available?
Yes. Babies and toddlers may be dropped off as soon as worship begins. Children in preschool – second grade participate in a guided Bible study and activity time after the musical portion of the worship service. They are dismissed from the service to “JKids.”
How do I get involved at Journey?
It’s easy. Just ask! There are no restrictions about who can or can’t be involved at our church. Membership is not a prerequisite to service at Journey. However, you should know that service at Journey also means that we want to help you represent Christ in our community. In fact, we don’t have a lot of “church activities” to get involved in. Everything at Journey centers around us learning to live dynamic Christ-centered lives in our families, places of work, schools and community.
How do I become a member of Journey?
If you’re interested in joining Journey, simply tell one of our pastors. They will arrange for you to attend our two-session Discovery Group. You can read more about it here.
