Fear Factor begins with great turnout

Jan 27th, 2007 by Jeff | 1

fear1.jpgUpper L’s first “Fear Factor” began Wednesday night with 16 students, grades 3-5 in attendance. Led by Journey’s youth group with host couples Jeff and Carolyn Noble and college student Pam Cameron, the evening started with a snack supper from Wendy’s. Jeff led the Bible study with the theme of “You Don’t Have to Fear… Peer Pressure,” using a passage from Proverbs.

The Fear Factor event had been kept behind closed doors until the Bible study was over. As the students entered the back room, a commode full of… lemonade and Baby Ruth’s greeted them. Yep, you guessed it. They went “bobbin’ for logs.” The students were timed to see who could retrieve a Baby Ruth and chew it up the quickest.

Each week the students are given points for various tasks, with the winner at the end of the semester receiving a free iPod nano! Points are awarded for memorizing the scripture verse for the week, bringing a friend, demonstrating a good attitude, etc.
