First of all, we work hard (and aren’t all deep relationships hard work?) to love one another as Christ commanded. We believe that by loving one another deeply, a bond is formed that radiates outward. Our love for one another forms a close, warm, inviting community of people.

Second, we are big on the community we live in. We believe that Christ called the church to serve all peoples. That’s what we attempt to do. You may have seen our shirts or other literature around that says, “Journey Church has left the building.” That phrase describes our belief that we are the church – not any structure or building. So we seek to serve our community through different organizations, volunteer efforts and work projects.

In fact, loving God and loving people is what Journey has boiled it all down to. Jesus said that in these two areas of focus, a person could fulfill the entire scriptures. So we’ve streamlined church.

We meet once on Sunday for informal, inviting, inspirational worship and biblical teaching. Then we meet on Sunday evenings for small groups scattered throughout town. Its in these small groups that relationships are built, friends are made, and “church” really happens.

We work hard to keep Journey from becoming a bunch of programs and activities that sap peoples’ strength and schedule. The church ought to equip its people to live Christ-like lives in the jobs, homes, and organizations that they’re already involved in, not become a religious country club or a separate community from the rest of town.
