Have you ever wanted to Fireproof your marriage? Now is your chance. One of Journey’s small groups is going through the Love Dare Bible Study. The Love Dare Bible Study is from the movie Fireproof. This study is designed to show you techniques to fireproof your marriage in ways you have never thought of. One way is to call your spouse out of the blue at work and tell them that you love them.
Watch the short clip on the Bible Study below.
Does this sound like something that you want in your marriage? If so, come check out this small group at Journey Church on Sunday evenings from 5 – 7.
For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them. (Matthew 18:20)
Despite the icy cold weather, 5th Friday was a success. Journey Church teamed with First United Methodist to bring a community together for praise worship. The event began with pizza, chips and dips, and lots of wonderful deserts. After being fed, there was live praise music from both churches and music videos from famous Christian artist. To end the evening, the youth from First United Methodist performed an interpretative dance showing how Jesus can save your life.
Come join Journey Church and First United Methodist Church for 5th Friday. It will be an evening of music, food, fellowship and worship. The Praise Band from the First United Methodist, the musicians from Journey Church, and the REJOICE Youth Choir, also from First United Methodist will be the entertainment for the evening.
Doors open at 6:00 for pizza and refreshments, and the music starts at 6:30. A nursery will be provided.
T-shirts will be on sale for $15 each and proceeds from the T-shirts will be used to help off-set the cost for future activities of 5th FRIDAY!
On Sunday afternoon, several members of Journey Church participated in the first annual Sanctity of Human Life Prayer Walk sponsored the Hope Place (a women’s resource center). Members of several churches all across Monticello gathered at the Drew County Courthouse for a walk to the Arkansas Children’s Baptist Home to bring about awareness on the importance of human life. Once everyone arrived at the courthouse, several pastors and leaders from the different churches lead everyone in prayer.
Anyone wanting information on the walk or how to help Hope Place contact Keitha Dodson. Keitha is the Journey’s representative for the Hope Place.
Journey Church has announced their interim pastor during a Core Group meeting after church. Jeremy Woodall will become the interim pastor during Journey’s time of transition.
Jeremy is no stranger to Journey Church. Before departing on his mission to Poland 6 months ago, Jeremy was an active member of the church. He led praise worship every morning. Jeremy has showed tremendous love for Journey through constant prayer and devotion. There has never been a time that Jeremy has said no to any member or person that has needed his help. This is one reason Journey Church had only one name for interim pastor in mind. Jeremy is a great asset to Journey and will continue to bless our church with his gift of teaching and guidance.
You may join us at Journey Church on Sundays at 10:30 and listen to the powerful lessons that God has enable Jeremy to preach to us.
Journey Church is happy that we have Jeremy Woodall back in our home church. Jeremy served in Krakow, Poland for about 6 months working with the Krakow Tigers football team. In addition to coaching and playing football, Jeremy helped spread the word of God to the athletes that he worked with. Through coffee houses and leading Bible studies, the Polish athletes were able to see how great and beneficial God can be in thier lives.
Saturday night was the official surprise Welcome Home Party for Jeremy. Much to Becca Sustaire’s (his girlfriend) surprise, he already knew and surprised her with a proposal. We are extremely happy about the forthcoming marriage of Jeremy and Becca .
The new year is a time for hope and beginnings for most people. People look forward to making New Year’s resolutions and trying to keep them. Often, prayer, meditation, and quiet time are amongst those. The Lord already knows what is in store for you for this new year. Just lean on God through the happy and troubled times that this year may bring you. He is there to see you through everything.
‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future,’ Jeremiah 29:11
Last night, members of Journey Church and their friends gathered together in fellowship to bring in the new year. In good Christian love, we laughed and cried over events that happened in 2009. Most importantly, we looked forward to what God is going to do in our lives, our family’s lives, and the lives of all that Journey Church may come in contact with during the 2010 year.
Mike and Kristy Hales astonished us with their life as they spoke about their Christian journey to Alaska in 2007. Mike and Kristy packed up or sold everything they owned to follow God on an Alaskan journey. On June 14, 2007, they packed up their two children and headed to Alaska with the understanding that they would not see their family as often as they wished to pursue God’s calling. For more information on their incredible journey, check out Jeff Noble’s (former Journey Church pastor) blog, Alaska Bound. You can also listen to Mike’s testimony.

They have since added to their wonderful family while in Alaska.
This year’s Christmas party was great. Core group members and guests gathered for a warm potluck supper. There was pork loin and fried chicken with all the trimmings. After everyone’s bellies were full, we gathered in the worship center to participate in Dirty Santa. The hottest items for the evening was the Snuggie and a Arkansas Razorback ball cap.

On Sunday, November 22nd Journey Church had their first praise and worship Sunday. Members and children gathered together to praise God in their own special way.
